Njideka Jeanette Orjiako, better known as Njideka or N.J is the latest addition to the Nigerian pop scene. Singing since the tender age of six, when a music teacher pushed her to perform in various choir groups after noticing her voice, she would years later became a standout member of an acapella Soul/R&B group called Voices of Soul while in university. An indigene of Imo state, she grew up in Nigeria and abroad, widening her taste in music.
Her influences include artists such as Toni Braxton, Beyonce and Rihanna, and she counts Banky W and Flavour among her top Nigerian artists. Finding singing as therapeutic, she desires to create timeless material as oppose to the usual flash in the pan music that comes and goes. Presently she spends her time between Abuja and Lagos soaking in the Nigerian music culture, which she calls “one of the great successes of Nigeria”.
With two certified singles in the form of “Heart Attack” ft. E.M.E artist Skales and “Super Mario” ft. Tekno, her music is a free blend of genres mixed in pop. Presently working with ace producer GospelOnDeBeatz, Njideka is ready to give Naija her blend of pop and R&B and it’s safe to say you won’t get a heart attack!
Enjoy Nj’s “Heart Attack” ft. Skales.
