So we brought you the premiere of House of Gold in pictures, now is the time for the actual review.
Over the long weekend (too bad that’s over 🙁 ) my friend convinced me to go to the movies to see a Ghanian/Nigerian film and I was really reluctant because I have a strict policy of not going to the cinema to watch a “naija movie” (yes I’m unpatriotic of the nollywood mediocre syndrome) but lo and behold….I was really really impressed by the plot and the performance of the actors.
House of Gold is a combination of comedy and family drama, it was particularly captivating because as Africans…and more especially Nigerians, we could really relate to it. I give two thumbs up to Majid Michael, Yvonne Nelson, Omawunmi Megbele, and the fellow who acted the driver….y’all had me in stitches throughout the movie. Even Ice Prince didn’t do so badly.
This is the second Nigerian/Ghanian movie I’m seeing that has made me absolutely proud to West African! So here’s to House of Gold as it joins the ranks of Nse Etim’s Mr & Mrs in my books!
